Rising or Defaulting?

Many believe that people rise to the occasion. You hear this a lot especially when you talk to youth athletes. The coaches will say a speech and somewhere along the middle, you’ll hear something like “it’s our time to rise to the occasion.” The problem becomes the team or the individual may not have experienced that certain type of occasion and the closest thing that they got to that occasion was the practice. However, I do understand the point of saying such things. It does motivate and inspires but motivation and inspiration can and often be fleeting…

Conversation.

When you think about it, many students lose their passion for learning when they get to middle school. A lot of factors can lead to this. Harder subjects, faster pace, but I think the main reason why some students lose their interest in learning is the realization that learning has been and will continue to be their “job” for the next several years. They see it on TV, Youtube or where ever they get their media. The adult who has the job is always so tired, or worse, they hate their job and they talk about it at the…

The occasion and training

Every person has many sides to them. An academic side. An athletic side. A creative side. And then there’s the entrepreneurial side. I have found that the entrepreneurial side gets neglected the most. I believe the reason for this neglect is because it is the most difficult to foster. From a young age, people may be afraid of what people think of them. The entrepreneur must be ready to hear all that people have to say about them and the products or ideas they provide. I believe it is imperative that children get introduced to entrepreneurship. …

Involvement also plays a huge part. Make no mistake, as the adults in these children’s lives, we are not to remove all the stressors as soon as we see them. It is our job to cultivate children so they become resilient, not fearful. This means that even though it may be painful to see them go through a struggle, we also need to fight that urge to “save” them and let them fight it out. The majority of the time, it is a fight from inside, and only they can fight it. There are those that will always live in…

A student submitted a response to the question “ would you transfer your mind to a machine, theoretically allowing you to live forever?” The student answered, “no, because there is an everlasting life with God the Father after death.” The Teacher of Record stated that that response was not acceptable because it’s religious.

Students have their beliefs. To stop that belief from being examined or situated is to inhibit a certain thought process, limiting the process of thought. Philosophy and religion have a deeper tie than what is first observed and complement each other more than the contrast.

The problem…

Understanding the importance of stress and the management thereof is crucial to the growth of individuals. Now in the context of children, we need to take that a step further. Like the idea of tech and person variability teaching methods, there are so many facets and plug-ins that can make and/or break the mental and physical fortitude of a child. However, there are several criteria that cannot be overlooked. …
